Laura's Story

Laura is a Detroit-born singer/songwriter who has toured and recorded with Bob Seger, Eric Clapton, Bruce Hornsby, Thomas Dolby, Kid Rock, the Black Crowes and many others. Laura writes and sings timeless bluesy-rock, with soulful lyrics and vocals.
Her first professional job in music was a Kroger commercial at age eight. After graduating high school, she sang in big bands and small jazz groups while studying theatre and music in college.
Songwriting was a natural progression, as she had been composing bits of melody and lyric since age five.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, she continued to write and sing on her own and in collaboration. Her songs were covered by rock groups and used in film and television and she sang and played guitar in several bands in the area.
As a studio singer she worked on many albums and commercials, film and television songs and themes.
After singing the demo for “By Heart”, a song written by Jim Brickman and Hollye Levin, she was asked to be the guest artist on Jim Brickman’s release of the song which became a single and went to number 11 on the Adult Contemporary charts.
She continues to write and produce music in Los Angeles and Detroit. One of her current compositions has just been covered by the amazingly talented, soulful blues singer Shaun Murphy on her album “Lorretta”.
On Bob Seger’s release, “Ride Out” Laura sings the duet “Adam and Eve” with Bob.
Her CD West of Detroit has been called “timeless”. Featuring her original songs, she is joined by Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Bill Payne of “Little Feat”, and other talented musicians she has worked with through the years.
